About MM Co.

Founded in 2021, Melanated Motives is a creative space company dedicated to exploring the lived realities of Black experience—particularly the trauma that has been normalized, overlooked, or accepted as everyday life.

The work centers on what is often carried in silence. Patterns, environments, and histories that are familiar, yet deeply impactful. Through poetry and other art forms, Melanated Motives gives language to these experiences—creating space for reflection, recognition, and release.

Rooted in melanin, memory, and identity, the brand is also grounded in the importance of expression, gathering, and healing. It exists not only as a place to witness the work, but as a space to connect—to self, to story, and to shared experience.

As its literary division, the Melanotes Series continues this exploration—moving through emotion, trauma, healing, and transformation, with each release building upon the last.

Melanated Motives is an evolving body of work—one that holds space for truth, complexity, and becoming. Continuing through expansion of projects and future collaborations with hope to help you as I help myself.
